Team Deploys 75 Customized Artist Sites in 6 Months with Acquia Cloud Site Factory

A global music entertainment client, working with open source strategy and design company Blink Reaction, needed a fast, stable, highly customizable web platform to power its artists’ websites. Frustrated with performance issues and lagging functionality, the music moguls turned to Acquia Cloud Site Factory to quickly deploy a long-term solution across its growing artist catalog.

The Challenge

Blink Reaction’s client, a major music entertainment organization, needed a web platform that could not only support the long-term growth of its artists’ websites, but one that could also enable a cost-effective and rapid transition from its soon-to-be-decommissioned legacy platform. The client was also dealing with massive traffic spikes, bugs, and mounting feature requests— all combined with immovable release deadlines tied to artists’ album release dates. Blink Reaction and its client were undertaking a high-risk task with no room for error, on an incredibly tight timeline.

The Solution

In less than 60 days, Blink Reaction, Acquia, and the client collaborated to design a pixel-perfect centralized collection of artist sites built on Acquia Cloud Site Factory. The team accomplished this by first creating a master artist site template that included all the features typically available on artists’ sites, such as a blog, information about upcoming events, and social linking. After creating the artist template, the team rapidly cloned it more than 75 times, resulting in 75 sites connected by a single brand and site structure. From there, each artist’s site was quickly themed, customized to the artist’s specific tastes and liking.

The Results

Within 6 months of the project start, the music entertainment client was able to successfully migrate and deploy more than 75 artist sites from the previous platform to Acquia Cloud Site Factory—something that would’ve been impossible on any other platform or without the guidance of the experienced Blink Reaction/Acquia team.
